Britney Spears recent single 'Piece Of Me' is #8 on the Billboard Digital Sales Chart this week so it will probably rise into the top 20 on this weeks Billboard Hot 100. The next single was rumored to be 'Hot As Ice', but major radio stations in the US such as Z100, KIIS-FM, and stations in Boston have been playing 'Break The Ice' in heavy rotation, and have caused the song to rise to #91 on the Pop Radio Chart. 'Hot As Ice' would be a big mistake IMO, but 'Break The Ice' would be a smash hit single. The Promo CDS for the song have leaked, and it just leads to more speculation that the next single will actually be 'Break The Ice'.
Leona Lewis has had a monster hit with 'Bleeding Love' internationally, especially in the UK and she will be releasing her new album 'Spirit' in the US in April, as well as her already smash single 'Bleeding Love' in February to radio stations across the country. I personally preferred the original video, which you can watch HERE. The new version of the video was premiered on Yahoo! Music and I look for this single to shoot straight to #1 this spring! This could be the next 'We Belong Together' if marketed correctly, so hopefully Leona has lots of promotion in the States soon.
Panic At The Disco are back with a new single 'Nine In The Afternoon' and as you can see, I didn't include the exclamation point in their band name. The band has removed the exclamation point from their name for this album. The single sounds great and from the sounds of the single, it seems it could do well on pop radio. Download a myspace rip of the new single below. Love this song now, can't wait for the HQ!
OneRepublic's recent hit single 'Stop & Stare' is getting airplay on mainstream pop radio and doing well on the Hot 100 and iTunes so far, so if you haven't gotten the single on iTunes yet, or bought the album do that because they are both great. The video isn't like their last single 'Apologize', and it's a great video that fits the song very well.
Snoop Dogg is back with a new single 'Sensual Seduction' and it is currently #11 on the Hot 100, and doing well on iTunes. The single has been re-worked into a duet by UK artist Robyn, whose album is amazing if you didn't know. The duet version is better than the original, so be sure to download it below! Also leave some comments about what you think.
Janet's new single 'Feedback' is rising and falling back and forth on iTunes, and this week dropped a few positions on the chart. This is Janet's best single in years and it does not deserve to do poorly. Everyone on this blog should download the song on iTunes at least once and support Janet and get her back on top. Let's make 2008 a year for Janet to be dominating the charts again just like in 1998. Downloading the song is only 99 cents, and that's only pocket change, so please let's get Janet to the top!
Paula Abdul's new single 'Dance Like There's No Tomorrow' has been getting overall great feedback and it was recently finally officially released to iTunes tonight. The single is a great song and could possibly get her back to the top if everything goes right. I'm hoping she'll make a new album after all these years! She'll also be performing at the Super Bowl's pre-game show, so be sure to watch that for sure!
Britney Spears recorded a cover of Ace Of Bases hit song of the 90's 'All That She Wants' and it's much better than the original version, although that's not saying the original is crap, because they are both great. Britney recorded this cover in 2005, when she did a few earlier sessions with J.R. Rotem around the time she recorded 'Rebellion'. Download it below!
Janet's new video has gotten mixed reviews- but I for one think it's a brilliant video. It's one of the best videos in the past year. The single is doing alright so far, hopefully it will continue to rise on the charts because it's an amazing song. The Directors Cut of the video has different camera angles, added sound effects which make the video much better IMO, and a slightly different longer ending. It also features more dancing added in the dance scenes. Be sure to purchase 'Feedback' on iTunes if you haven't already- and let's get Janet that smash hit she deserves!
Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire are on tour together as part of the '2 Worlds 2 Voices' Tour and I would love to see them, but I'm a dork and spent all my money on the Spice Girls tour- but at least I've seen Reba before multiple times when I was little, and I saw Kelly for the first time ever in October, so I'm set. Although it'd be amazing to see both of them together. I hope they tour again together. Below are a few performances from their tour, which are amazing- although some are shorter!
Enrique Iglesias is releasing 'Push' as his third or fourth single depending on how you look at it with 'Tired Of Being Sorry' being the 2nd single in the UK, and 'Somebody's Me' being the 2nd single in the US. The single features a guest rap by Lil Wayne and it's an alright song- although I would have much preferred 'Ring My Bells' being released as the next single- but we'll see if it's ever released.
Madonna may be releasing a new album in April, and a new single by the end of next month, but a track has surfaced titled 'Keep The Trance' which was recorded during the Confessions On A Dancefloor era, and it's an amazing track! People have been wondering and asking about this track for years, and it's finally here. Actually if you listen to the lyrics- she more than likely took this song and turned it into 'Get Together' and 'Hey You'! Major thanks to Ultrabri for sharing this demo with ther fans!
Paula Abdul hasn't had a single in at least a decade, but she's back with her new single 'Dance Like There's No Tomorrow' and what a surprise! It's a fun, upbeat just happy go lucky track and I'm sure it will be a hit. It's a good song, albeit less than 3 minutes, but radio loves short songs, and I think this will catch on. The single should be available on iTunes Tuesday, and you can download a radio rip below. Also thanks to StarsVIP member derekacorah for posting it. Check back for the HQ soon.
The Backstreet Boys just can't seem to find the hit they are looking for lately and flopping with every single- but could this next single end all of that? 'Everything But Mine' is the next single, and it's an upbeat song for once. I think the problem with the band is that their label wants to keep releasing slower songs and that just doesn't work anymore. They should have already released this song and 'Any Other Way'. Download the single below and tell me what you think.
Natasha Bedingfield is releasing her new album 'Pocketful of Sunshine' in the US next week, and it is an album consisting of songs from her recent album released in the UK 'N.B.' as well as new songs added on to it. It's really her best album to date, and I can't wait to see her be more successful than she already is! Download the webrip below!
Maroon 5 performed their current single 'Won't Go Home Without You' LIVE on the Late Show with David Letterman, and they gave a great performance. The song is racing up the pop radio chart, and their next single has already been chosen- 'Goodnight, Goodnight' and the video has already been shot as well. The video will likely be released soon.
Alanis Morissette is releasing her new album this spring 'Flavors of Entanglement' and a while back she premiered a video for 'Underneath' at a film festival, and it was only available in low quality- well now a HQ copy has surfaced. It is not confirmed whether this video was only made for the song for the film festival or whether it will actually be her first single, but enjoy the 'Underneath' video below, as well as download the song!
Janet Jackson is finally BACK on MTV after ignoring each other for years. Janet's new video for Feedback officially goes for adds on their video rotations next week, as well as premiering on TRL Monday! Also, MTV has started showing commercials in support of the single! This will be Janet's first video to be promoted and to premiere on TRL since 2001!
Kanye West is releasing 'Flashing Lights' ft. Dwele as his next single and after the success of his past singles this could do just as well. I'm not a big fan of Kanye or anything- so I'm not really going to say much about him besides the fact I find him arrogant and this song is boring, but you can download the single below and tell me what you think in the comments!
Goldfrapp are back with a new album, and it's said to be more stripped down and not as out there as their past records. The first single will be 'A&E' and the video was leaked online, but removed- but it will be premiering this weekend, so I'll add it to the post when that happens. Enjoy the song, it's great! I'm sure the video will be online soon.
Alicia Keys is back with a major selling album and both singles have been hits on multiple formats, including the Hot 100, and she recently performed a cover of The Fray's 2007 hit 'How To Save A Life' on Live Lounge on BBC Radio. It's great and something different and mellow for Alicia. It's a very good cover, adds her raspy soulful voice. Download the audio below.
Ok, so this isn't technically "new", it's been released before in other countries, and has had a run on the dance charts- but now it's finally being released to Pop Radio at the end of this month. It's a song that could be played in the 70's, or in 2010. It's just something that is now, but can't really be put to a particular time period. It's just interesting and something different. See the video and download the single below.
Colbie Callait has had a big year with her surprising hit single 'Bubbly'. The single was a top ten, and top 5 hit in some markets and she is releasing a second single 'Realize' to radio which is kind of in the same vein as 'Bubbly'. Should do well if 'Bubbly' was a hit. We'll see how it fares.
Afte the success of her recent two singles 'Teardrops On My Guitar' and 'Our Song', Taylor Swift is ready to release her fourth and new single 'Picture To Burn'. It's a great song and since both 'Teardrops On My Guitar' and 'Our Song' are taking off at the same time on Pop Radio, this could do the same hopefully. It'll do great on Country- but we'll see about Pop.
Jordin Sparks after having a hit single with 'Tattoo' is back with her second single 'No Air' a ballad featuring Chris Brown. It's already taking off on Pop Radio and it's a good song. Hopefully they release 'Freeze' next- I love that song and these should both be huge singles for Jordin.
Ryan Cabrera is releasing a new album in April, and after the mediocre success of his last album 'You Stand Watching', I hope radio and everyone really starts embracing him because he's a great artist. His first album is one of my favorite albums of the past years, and he makes some good music. Here are a few clips of three new songs that will be on his new album. They sound good- can't wait!
Phil Stacey who was on last seasons American Idol, is releasing a new album and his first single will be 'If You Didn't Love Me'. It's a decent song and could do alright, but seeing Blake Lewis flop horribly, it doesn't bode well fr Phil- maybe he can pull through and actually succeed, we'll see.
Jewel is back with a new single 'Stronger Woman' and she is also doing something a little different and releasing an all new Country album. It should be interesting to see how the single does on Country radio/charts as well as the album. She got some country airplay and video slots from her last album, so hopefully this time around things will fare better for her.
Janet Jackson is back with her brand new single 'Feedback' and the video matches the brilliance of the song for sure. The video features Janet in space, and it's definitely something different for her, and for once she doesn't show her body. She's in full clothing, and it's a hot video. That dance sequence at the end is FIRE! Great comeback video IMO!
Janet Jackson's new video for 'Feedback' off of her new album 'Discipline' premieres tomorrow on BET, but today they showed an exclusive sneak peek of the video! The video looks amazing, and something that Janet hasn't done in a while. It looks like it's going to be an amazing video- and it seems that Janet is back to being a 'Video Artist' once again- be sure to catch the WORLD PREMIERE of the video tomorrow on BET at 6pm, and then the internet premiere on Yahoo! Music Wednesday. Watch the preview of the new video below, and check back tomorrow for the full premiere, I'll be recording it personally if it's not already online.
Chris Crocker covered Britney's smash hit single 'Piece Of Me', and it's not entirely terrible, but it's not that amazing. It's very, let me say, interesting. It's a great song to act stupid to and laugh about- which is what he wants. Of course Chris Crocker wants people to laugh at this, so there's nothing wrong with it. Credit to Skiitlesz from Starsvip for the cover art used in the banner. Download the song below, and jam out to it and laugh!
Kelly Rowland has released her new single 'Daylight' featuring Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes, and the song is different from her normal R&B/Hip Hip material. It sounds more like a Natasha Bedingfield song, and I like that a lot! It's a great song and is finally the single that could put her back on top- it's a great single choice and her first great single in a while!
Authorities have confirmed that Britney was NOT under the influence of any drugs whatsoever, and was also found to be sober and not under the influence of alcohol. Britney also did not try to harm herself, nor her children- and she is not charged with anything at all. Britney has lost custody of her children, but only temporarily until the next court hearing, so no biggie. Glad to see that Britney wasn't on any drugs or anything and didn't try to harm her or the kids. Get well soon Brit!
Matchbox Twenty released a Greatest Hits album recently and have been releasing new singles from that album ever since then. The past single 'How Far We've Come' was a hit single, but it was a quick hit. The new single 'These Hard Times' is a decent song and should do moderately well. I wish they would have amazing songs like they did years ago, but one can only wish. Hopefully on another album in the future.
Kylie Minogue is releasing 'In My Arms' as a new single from her album 'X' in Spain. It is not known whether 'In My Arms' will replace 'WOW' as the 2nd single in all of Europe now or what will happen, but WOW is already a hit in the UK and changing singles would only do damage more than anything. I think both should be released as they are good singles.
Backstreet Boys current single 'Helpless When She Smiles' isn't doing too well on the charts at the moment even with a great video, but that doesn't seem to stop them from making good music. The bands new album 'Unbreakable' seems to only be selling well in Japan where they still are loved, and it just doesn't make sense to me. The album is probably their best since Black & Blue or even 'Millenium'. They deserve success and I think they will get it eventually since they keep trying and never give up. This song 'Satellite' is a b-side featured on their current single.
Janet Jackson was featured on Extra on the set of her new video for her new single 'Feedback' and she looked great. The video, as Janet states, is supposed to have a futuristic look into what her "perfect world" would be like. That should be very interesting. Janet also talks about her upcoming album where she says there are a mix of different songs- uptempo dance tracks, midtempo songs, ballads, and baby making songs. The video is also rumored to be premiering tonight on Extra, so check back for a clip of the video or video if it does indeed air.
Ryan Tedder posted on his own personal producer myspace page that he is working with Kelly Clarkson, although it is not sure whether it is both writing and producing, or just one or the other. The post included this information: 'CURRENT WRITING AND PRODUCTION PROJECTS: Esmee Denters, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Cornell, NLT, Paula Deanda, Leona Lewis’ U.S. release & Jennifer Hudson'. This should be an interesting collaboration as Ryan is great at making hits, and I cannot wait for Kelly to be on top of the game again! Now, don't be so quick to think Kelly is selling out for hits- Kelly mentioned recently that she loved OneRepublic's music and sound, and that is probably why she is working with him as he is the lead vocalist of the group. It's also rumored the album will drop this fall- so can't wait!
Evanescence is releasing their new single 'Weight Of The World' in Latin America, and some South American countries, but it isn't known if the song will be released in the United States, Europe or worldwide for that matter. The song is great and I wouldn't mind if it were released in the United States at all. 'All That I'm Living For' should be the next single if they release anymore for sure.
Janet Jackson recently had a photoshoot for 'Prestige' Magazine in Hong Kong and she looks absolutely stunning. It's a fresh new look for her, and something that isn't showing her breasts and body, as she is clothed while still looking sexy. I think that works for her more so than the bearing all look she's used to. Also, Janet has a brand new single 'Feedback' out now, and available for download on iTunes! Be sure to support Janet and purchase the single, request it on your local radio station, and buy the album that will be out in the US titled 'Discipline' on February 26th!
Fergie is releasing yet another single from her multi-platinum selling album 'The Dutchess' and the last and final single will be the ballad 'Finally'. The song is decent and shows off her vocal abilities which she doesn't always show, but I think that songs like 'All That I Got' and 'Pick It Up' are better choices. This song will end her string of hits and will not chart well, but it's still something and I'm sure there will be a video filmed soon as well.
Happy Near Years and I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday's and also hope everyone has an amazing 2008! There hasn't been much to post lately since it's usually slow during the holiday season, and I've been working and spending time with family, so I will most definitely post something as soon as something comes up!
